My last finish of <u>2018. The Labryinth Walk quilt. I started this oh sew many years ago. 2012 this came out in Quilt Magazine and my husband said 'Now thats a quilt! I like that" In 2016 I finally bought some fabric for it. I mean if it's for the Hubster it has to be just right. </u></h3>
<h3>
<u>I LOVE quilt retreats have I mentioned that. Well anyway I go to a few a year and I have finally learned that if I precut I can just sit and sew and eat and laugh and sew and eat and laugh and sew. It really stems from having back problems and standing on the concrete at most of these rtreat places is not good for me. Seww anyway in OCT I retreat with my sisters in Joplin MOand decided it was time to get the Labryinth Walk done. So I pre cut had everything in seperate baggies and put a copy of the pattern in my retreat project bag. OH mistake mistake mistake! </u></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8NNn1LtahW0feSQ1nBDPydFhmi74B7K8puglTxIKDAxG1b0FE1QW6JloR_MI04u_NW0r1OZg_hM2bf_QautuBJPuBWmSrP8wIVmiFrT-RK3aehQPbz3QRBlvAzwdm2Aw4fukIe5FuKQ0/s1600/1546314358655.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8NNn1LtahW0feSQ1nBDPydFhmi74B7K8puglTxIKDAxG1b0FE1QW6JloR_MI04u_NW0r1OZg_hM2bf_QautuBJPuBWmSrP8wIVmiFrT-RK3aehQPbz3QRBlvAzwdm2Aw4fukIe5FuKQ0/s640/1546314358655.jpg" /> </a> </div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Retreat was going great and my work motto is do a couple UFO's and then I can start something new. I worked like a mad dog on Thursday finishing up a couple of things so I could get to this The Labryinth Walk. Block one came to a screeching halt!! You know you seem to think youre being smart saving space making copies of a magazine pattern BUT if you do, do it in color. I just copied mine and now I sat with this black n white pattern and it shows me a black square that should be a black/charcoal half square triangle. Now I have no clue which way the angle needs to be. Luckily another retreater wa sthere and had her pattern. I was on her list to do. OH thank Heavens to Mary Anne. She works for LQS and was making it for them and sat two tables over. With the ability to jump up and chack her pattern for the correct angles I got this together before I left Sunday morning.</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It did sit in my to be quilted pile for almost a year and then in the waiting to be bound pile for 4 months. BUT it is done now. Yay me. I only have 5 quilts left in my to be bound pile. I won;t mention how many in my to be quilted pile. But all this keeps me out of the bars.</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Talk about staying out of bars. we fixed a pitcher out of this and I had one. Whew I can tell I don't drink anynore.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I know she didn't quilt, it was her mother that quilted. She had all these boxes of quilting stuff sitting in her garage and they had been there for years, since her mothers passing. I love retreats. So the first order of quilting was to do a top that was suppose to be done last fall. but let me show outhis cute little table runner first. Have you seen this fabric. Already into stripes. I threw the selvedge away but I believe it's called STRIP-R, so all I had to do was make the vertical cuts and stitch it back up into this table runner. what an easy way to make a bragello. I could see a bed quilt done like this and is it cheating?Who cares is was a breeze. </p>

There was 20 of us and each person chose a block and made 20 of them then we swapped them and each of us ended up with 20 different blocks to make a sampler.I picked out this pretty limey green and this luscious purple to go with the black n white blocks. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLONhil-i-Swl5aycEQyBXrugwWhW0dKJ7FStEIAvXNGAwGDvylfdtUTG2r_rS0gx2MdGWgIKGXBGHuYyIa3nT_j0BRJqB7E6lr2jcZhZ6r-5JRX-cJiXEXGkK0Z9blN1Ceg_yLRUF6jo/s1600/1483923259523.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLONhil-i-Swl5aycEQyBXrugwWhW0dKJ7FStEIAvXNGAwGDvylfdtUTG2r_rS0gx2MdGWgIKGXBGHuYyIa3nT_j0BRJqB7E6lr2jcZhZ6r-5JRX-cJiXEXGkK0Z9blN1Ceg_yLRUF6jo/s640/1483923259523.jpg"></a>This is a quilt I started as a challenge with a sister. Many years ago sge wanted to do a Christmas challenge and we went to her favorite shop bucause it had it's Christmas fabric on sale. We both had to choose 6 maybe 7 or was 8 Half yard cuts and then make something out of it. I didn't want to do someone eles pattern so I came up with this. Ihad saw a pattern sometime before with a star in the center with some flying geese and loved it, so I came up with this. No flying geese but arrows.I used up just about every inch of the fabric too. Now many years later not even sure how many it is finally done. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm packing up things to go to a retreat this next weekend and I am so excited. I love retreating. I can just put on the headphones and sew or I can sit and sew and talk with everyone. Just whatever mood I"m in. I need to get a lot of things done. Last year I blogged about my dad being ill with dementia and he passed away this past fall and I want to make memory quilts out of his shirts. The shirts are cut apart and cleaned and stacked in nice order just waiting on me. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKrGsCHe044EsrZVVwaKDGlvuMaDWoaqbZwNcl-iFd-8sZh8KOdDZPODTbzqslLKdG6_A3sfr1Q7vduCKtHb9ZXaomapN4a6kg3TL-V2CNzdO6UPhYjLfCGfQzRZg85rZiAeyCHKPHnnw/s1600/1483924239176.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKrGsCHe044EsrZVVwaKDGlvuMaDWoaqbZwNcl-iFd-8sZh8KOdDZPODTbzqslLKdG6_A3sfr1Q7vduCKtHb9ZXaomapN4a6kg3TL-V2CNzdO6UPhYjLfCGfQzRZg85rZiAeyCHKPHnnw/s640/1483924239176.jpg"></a>Here are some of them all stacked up and the pattern I want to do with some of them. The plain denim color is just a constant filler I bought. I have 5 siblings and want to make my mother one, so I will need a couple patterns. I also have the Dad/Father sayings on fabric if I want to use them. I am really thinking about it for mine. It's just been so hard to actually do these but I will I will. I am hoping these gett into the bag to go to retreat but I"m trying to precut everything and not sure if I have time, but never fear another retreat in March. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9WAugeMiKZMJy8U8QVS0ygeORerZ2ZeDtk4VIyjA5CqggwdpAwRMYNt3pyna8RcXDfoKn9FjhcLCuDjx3I0tjCUb_JC5aIj4B3c4NokbbdLUHhPO_EJ1PQabkqkMywxrzZsB9dJI6t4c/s1600/1483924890452.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9WAugeMiKZMJy8U8QVS0ygeORerZ2ZeDtk4VIyjA5CqggwdpAwRMYNt3pyna8RcXDfoKn9FjhcLCuDjx3I0tjCUb_JC5aIj4B3c4NokbbdLUHhPO_EJ1PQabkqkMywxrzZsB9dJI6t4c/s640/1483924890452.jpg"></a>So do we know what show this is from? I'm a little obsessed, even tho I have only watched season One I have done 7 of the books on Audibile. so I bought all three panels and this is the first of the three that I'm working on. I really think that it is the one I want to keep for myself. Oh you know I really will keep all three of them. But if I could only keep one I think it would be this one. So have you figured out the show. Outlander on Starz. No I don't have Starz in fact we barely have anything. We found ourselves paying for hundrreds of channels and watching regular network majority of the time, so why? We got rid of the satillite and have that Roku thing and stream some TV but since I have a Kindle we have Amazon Prime and viola I found it there and purchased it. My husband says we aren't saving much if I am buying shows. And I say well at least what we are paying for we are watching, or at least I am.But I have a couple borders figured out on this panel so it is going to retreat.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7sNcqKin-VQuFqYlXKQzcKFc1QgBXexyhFKlA5HuEUNkpIAbjheLn94CheEhX9MhQmc11OdP9MiGpGe813gpjuvFHCclGDaixk_Dqss14BQ406dn3bFmJIQe_rYum_mdt9AYCy3Hy4oY/s1600/1483925671238.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7sNcqKin-VQuFqYlXKQzcKFc1QgBXexyhFKlA5HuEUNkpIAbjheLn94CheEhX9MhQmc11OdP9MiGpGe813gpjuvFHCclGDaixk_Dqss14BQ406dn3bFmJIQe_rYum_mdt9AYCy3Hy4oY/s640/1483925671238.jpg"></a>So next is these beautiful black and white sampler blocks we swapped out at a local retreat. I was suppose to have these made into a top last NOV but didn't make it. But I swear I will have it done for our March retreat. I have chosen this luscious limey green and regal purple to go with them. I will be a completed top when I get back from retreat next weekend. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihp1kUYZC5taH3VpytIQ1-xBsyCWSuAYkh1y5HxqodvTOdurcenL3z4N7kLnZCTkm1PkMJmneehyphenhyphenlhJhlXNPSw7sQbD2JhraxmbeX-AQWLLgU2c3-Rj-0Qhm2F6wTlL0Ohpp87rN6EJI4/s1600/1483926059529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihp1kUYZC5taH3VpytIQ1-xBsyCWSuAYkh1y5HxqodvTOdurcenL3z4N7kLnZCTkm1PkMJmneehyphenhyphenlhJhlXNPSw7sQbD2JhraxmbeX-AQWLLgU2c3-Rj-0Qhm2F6wTlL0Ohpp87rN6EJI4/s640/1483926059529.jpg"></a>Have I shown you this one? Oh I just get so lost in what I have and havent't. I doubt it tho. Ijust recently finished it. Once again something that was started years ago. This uses the x block ruler template thing and I would link it but since on my tablet unsure how. After posting this I will work on that and then maybe this paragraph will make no sense. lol So I will stop this post now, I have a catchie on my fingernail driving me insane so I have to take care of it. I will be back after retreat to let you see what I did.Till then Sew On</div>Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11764074440533866486noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1832910743592116355.post-54106546508709919392016-12-18T08:11:00.001-05:002016-12-18T10:13:20.341-05:00CHA CHA CHANGES<p dir="ltr">Youy know life always has a way of making sure to keep you on your toes. Changes, I never thought I was a stodgy ole fool that couldn't go with the flow but in the last couple years I've struggled. It started with Digital camerra! I loved the one with the floppy disc, remember those yu just took the pic plugged the floppy in and transfered the pics. Then that camera broke and I had to 'upgrade' Life has never been the same. I don't know how manycameras I have went through it seems I'm rough on them and the wires!Oh My Desktop gets old and outdated cameras break laptop sucks it has a cursor that is from the devil itself. The darn cursor flies all over the page and I could be typing away and then all the sudden the cursor jumps up into previous paragraph middle of sentences and takes up there. Some say its "I'm hovering over the cursor pad so I got wireess mouse and that didn't solve the problem.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrjBRSlPGE3J71vLtrOToSLpe_c2sxoJ_dpvNKHJB6eSyZl-GM86zpos4Y3_c3SVbW8K8ykXIW4YPQRu66tGLowdZO-dsUFp0ym1gHwsSBw4jqiQZIoKDWrQmBd-3dw8c0DORN4y3GiQo/s1600/1482070997459.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="font-family: sans-serif; text-align: center; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrjBRSlPGE3J71vLtrOToSLpe_c2sxoJ_dpvNKHJB6eSyZl-GM86zpos4Y3_c3SVbW8K8ykXIW4YPQRu66tGLowdZO-dsUFp0ym1gHwsSBw4jqiQZIoKDWrQmBd-3dw8c0DORN4y3GiQo/s640/1482070997459.jpg"></a>Now look at the mess. I'm not even sure which goes to which anymore. So to cut this story short I got a new tablet and this cute wireless keyboard to go with thi it. so now I can take the pics witht the tablet and nowmore wires in the drawer they go.</p><p dir="ltr"><br></p><p dir="ltr">Cha Change the Hubby is without work and only being in late fifties we are not ready for retirement. Ok so maybe we are but finiancially we are not. Far far from it. But for a man that has only been a dairyman working with cows what can he do? Weelll I convinced him that I haad a long arm just sitting there all day long doing nothing. Most complaints from quilters about long armers is the wait! So if he learned to do pantos and gave a quick turn around he could contribute to our finiances. But you have to practice practice practice. So now months later he is building up a client base, yay him, and anytime he does a new pantograph he has to do it on one of my quilts first. Look at this pile waiting for binding now. And last year I had a record amount of finishes. 18! </p>

Last post I was getting ready for retreat. Travelling 650 miles to go to a retreat maybe crazy but I had fun and got to spend time with family. I made new friends and hope to see them again and again. I didn't short sheet anyone and kept my snoring to a mild level. So all was good.<br />
<br />
My goal was to get my newest grandson his quilt made. He's 8 and his mommy married my son last July 4th. He has autism so his mommy wanted the puzzle quilt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr7rqpy_CXDKz6K-uzsIN0XcX3uqUWJ8iHzw7Ykw1diW0zV1HNbCKJI0MEuWXwiCh6nPt9pQY5PfjTN5sXQxNsNWSCzGfsYc3B2RN77YrcSS5tS3UEzNYCJW-5x6EKNwreORHN-oK0dbo/s1600/IMG_20161113_1854432_rewind.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr7rqpy_CXDKz6K-uzsIN0XcX3uqUWJ8iHzw7Ykw1diW0zV1HNbCKJI0MEuWXwiCh6nPt9pQY5PfjTN5sXQxNsNWSCzGfsYc3B2RN77YrcSS5tS3UEzNYCJW-5x6EKNwreORHN-oK0dbo/s320/IMG_20161113_1854432_rewind.jpg" width="181" /></a>Ask and you shall get. And now it's quilted too. Binding will be fine during football!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also was commissioned to make a baby quilt. You know everybody wants a handmade till they find out how much it will cost. Since it was a co worker/friend of my hubby I gave her a break. I also told her the prices of fabric at quilt shops verses department store. If course she like something at the department store and I said hold it up if you can see through it like tissue paper, stay away from it. Well she bought it and i was pleasantly surprised at the quality. Yes better than I thought. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Several years ago I met a wonderful lady, so talented and nice. Never met a nicer woman. She came to a retreat that I host. We became good friends. She was a member of a local quilt club but I'm not. BUT I do attend their retreats. If course I love retreats. Well this sweet woman had a severe stroke after one of these retreats and is in nursing home. She's unmarried and no children. Her family had an estate auction to help pay for her nursing care. I purchased a small tub with fabric and a quilt started in it. So I took this also so I could finally finish it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Add you can tell I'm trying to clean up some UFO's so the next one is a peacock panel I've had for a couple years. Out collecting those row by row experience rows I saw a package of fabrics I thought would work with this panel. It had a plain blue and a piece with the peacock feathers and some floral and a stripe. So I bought it. I didn't use the floral and I had to bum a bit of jade, but here it is</div>

This week has been full of trying to get things ready for a retreat Oct 13. I've decided I'm going to cut my pieces out so I can spend time sewing not standing at a cutting table. So</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnEvAlUF08VPffDlVv6ynNxEkMi3zPTUWgbPOVAuGEibc9fn4C1XhVUFovB_mkmKzMNNZOU9PFREfUIaJBtu0gBW1G0IzODUnobmfHe0eP1r6aNTOxnaJgKEw-ayK4wuaojPoK0W-eWNk/s1600/IMG_20161002_1116353_rewind.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnEvAlUF08VPffDlVv6ynNxEkMi3zPTUWgbPOVAuGEibc9fn4C1XhVUFovB_mkmKzMNNZOU9PFREfUIaJBtu0gBW1G0IzODUnobmfHe0eP1r6aNTOxnaJgKEw-ayK4wuaojPoK0W-eWNk/s320/IMG_20161002_1116353_rewind.jpg" width="181" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's the bag starting to fill up. Have to have the back scratcher. Three projects ready and cutting another one.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWJ7fAOpTcn1KEEdLxfEi1-YYh8h-r8eRX-ta_2ZKYXmk6eszzW63GDRojYj4-XxY_h2TeeS8OSvcWR8Bt8DkQnn3IvFe2Izlb8IL_gvf4Bbzc0NtMMpssOx5fv8TfzX6ikNfjIUuQdzY/s1600/IMG_20161002_1114497_rewind.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWJ7fAOpTcn1KEEdLxfEi1-YYh8h-r8eRX-ta_2ZKYXmk6eszzW63GDRojYj4-XxY_h2TeeS8OSvcWR8Bt8DkQnn3IvFe2Izlb8IL_gvf4Bbzc0NtMMpssOx5fv8TfzX6ikNfjIUuQdzY/s320/IMG_20161002_1114497_rewind.jpg" width="181" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one is for m my newest grandson. He's 8 but just came into our family last year. So when it's completely cut it will be added to the bag. Then I'll just need to get the memory quilts cut up. That should be enough for a weekend of sewing.</div>

So here's to trying to catch up. My dear hubby is taking over my edge to edge quilting. Since I work outside the home and he is now on limited days at work he's been learning. No learning is over and he's taken it over. With him being here 80/90 % of the time he can offer an edge to edge at a reasonable price in just a couple week turn around. This gives me more time to piece, sew, cut or blog. So here's what I've been doing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

These shoes,I couldn't resist. I had gotten a high heel shoe pantograph for the long arm and I knew I wanted some fancy high heels to go with it. Lo and behold I was on a shop hop and there they were. This will go to my step daughter when it's all said and done.<br />

I finally set them January 2014 at a retreat. I wish I could show the swappers m my quilt but I haven't been on my Yahoo in years. When they changed their format I got lost.</div>

Then I'm working on this applique project. The outer blocks were made 4 years ago add a buck a (I think) at the local quilt shop. I had enough of the purples to make a couple extra blocks. I also on a shop hop found a bolt of the black on sale. Oh not the whole bolt but enough. So now I'm dabbling in designing the center motif. I'll leave it add a surprise se as to what the finish product may look like.<br />

Life has been so full of ups and downs and has kept me busy. First my 91 yr old father diagnosed with dementia just became to much for my mom to manage and after much turmoil is now settled into a nursing facility.<br />

I know it was rough for the siblings living there but it was rough being hundreds of miles away too. I took serveral trips back in hopes if relieving stress on those there. Don't know if it worked but with those trips it did give me chance to do some quilt shop hoping.<br />

And now one of my most favorite shops, this little place hides away off the Hiway of Exter MO. The owner is one of the nicest ladies ever. First time I went in we talked and she found out I was from Indiana, but originally from close to there. So the next year I walk in and she looks then exclaims "indiana". Ok now that is something to remember my face and where from. It says something of her personality. Stop in to PDubs if your ever in the Cassville/ Exter MO area.</div>

So I finally got my Christmas present. The hubster got it special made to match the new kitchen cabinets. Wait I haven't told you about my new kitchen. Oh my I am so behind. We lived for months without a kitchen. Living in a home thats 150 yrs old, it needed some up grades. After checking prices, I decided to design it myself. Custom cabinets. We love how it turned out. Thanks to Hilty Cabinets and James Baumgartner for all the work.The ladder is out of the hickory as the cabinets and is wider than a normal ladder. This way I can show off more of the quilts.</div>

I did with a retreat group. I sent the pattern along with pre cut beaks and waddles and their nests. But asked fellow rowers to use their scraps for other parts. The outside border is chicken wire. It turned so nice, or I think so.</div>

Lord you would think I would learn after awhile that there is always something happening to make my life a little more challenging, I know it has been awhile since posting but yes as I said I have been reading like a fool. I have found so many new authors, how did we all survive before these e-readers came along. They open up such a wonderful new world. I have some pics from my phone that I want to share but I haven't figured out how to put them to this post. I need to make them a post of their own. I get so confused on all this electronic stuff.<br />
So I guess I close this one and start overSusanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11764074440533866486noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1832910743592116355.post-43808300123247345662014-07-20T20:27:00.001-04:002014-07-20T20:27:06.341-04:00Staying busy<p dir="ltr">Just thought I should show you some eye candy. </p>

My sisters have had one for years and I just kept dragging my feet in getting one. But then I started listening to books on CD form at work and the thoughts of an e reader started bouncing around in my head. So then the search was on Nook vs Kindle. Well I went with the Kindle Fire HD. Of course since I have ther reader I have to read right. Well I found this author J.S. Scott and really liked her writing. I fell in love with the characters in The Billionaire's Obsession, Simon's story. So now another book is coming out in a couple days and I can't wait. It's erotic romance done in a tasteful manner. I have tried to read other erotic romance but it was sleazy so J.S.'s approach is refreshing. So if you liked to join the mailing list follow the link <a href="http://authorjsscott.us3.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=933564adb389d7abbcab99416&id=4a341c577f" target="_blank">here</a>. <span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">if your facebook is linked to your twitter please use #BillionaireUndone @islandlovelies. Well I am so behind in posting quilts I don't know which ones I have shown and which ones I haven't. So here I go posting some. I hope these are some you haven't seen.<br>
<br>
This is Cynthia's a nice simple pattern but it makes such a beautiful quilt. She made this for a friend that is going thru chemo.Unfortunate situation but a wonderful gift.<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipc3Q4p-0ZzpfC4ivxCFwSQpSK5OloD-50Qqthqi7XUIhxBAn67lbb17_83vMh7Wuj5xIHern-f-D9hZIZzSJodHmeXnqKo4KpS0g7CY0D7scu11pjhgLc4UIjInGKG2kSvS42wneiT6Y/s1600/Delores+closeup.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipc3Q4p-0ZzpfC4ivxCFwSQpSK5OloD-50Qqthqi7XUIhxBAn67lbb17_83vMh7Wuj5xIHern-f-D9hZIZzSJodHmeXnqKo4KpS0g7CY0D7scu11pjhgLc4UIjInGKG2kSvS42wneiT6Y/s1600/Delores+closeup.JPG" height="240" width="320"></a></div>
This next quilt belongs to Delores. I see a cross in those Log Cabin Blocks. I didn't see it as I quilted it but once hanging it sure jumps out at me. Delores has been teaching her grand daughter how to quilt and this is their collaborative effort. They sure made a nice quilt. <br>

This beauty is Jeans. She stated she wanted something custom in the snowballs but not necessarily anything to fancy. Hmm. So I went with the simple and this is how it turned out. I did double ovals with a flower in the center and just X'd the four patches. I like the simple little design in centers. Different and that was what I was going for,<br>

This belongs to Kathryn and is from a pattern called Farm Scraps (I believe). I really really really like this pattern and wish I had it.<br>

This past weekend I made a quick trip back home to SW MO. My dad had surgery so as a break for my mom I took (oh really my sister drove) my mom on a mini shop hop. My goal is to go to at least 2 new (to me) quilt shops a year. I have been to one already but I went to 2 this weekend so already this year I have now been to 3 new (to me) quilt shops. This first shop The Quilted Garden is in Aurora, MO and wow what a great little shop. Selection, selection and such nice ladies in the shop. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here's the goodies I ended up with. And no I have no plans for any of it. Just had to have it.</div>

This next shop sits out in the country between Cassville and Exeter MO. No shop sign as of yet but it is called P-Dubs. Now can you see that wall of fat quarters and it just went on and on and around the corner. and all color coordinated too. I was so amazed at this wall I had a hard time picking anything out. I had 4 or 5 different scenarios picked out this saw this one print and my heart stopped and I had to have it all. Nope have no clue what I am going to do with it but.......</div>

Pam owns this shop and is probably the friendliest person I have met. Sure wish this shop was close to me. This wall of fat quarters is only part of what it really is. I would say only a fourth of it is showing. </div>

MONTHS where has time gone. I know I have been to two quilting retreats and heading home this weekend. So guess I better get off my duff and catch this thing up but where do I start. the death of a dear family member, no too sad, the fact I couldn't even set any type of goal for 2014, no sad too. I need something happy. OH happy days I bought a Kindle and have been reading and reading and reading. Now I just have to figure out how to balance a day job, a husband and then the long arm job, and now reading. Just when am I to piece, to knit. Too much to think about, I think I'll rest for now. Catch ya tomorrow<br />

This is a Challenge quilt I call, Friendship Flowers. The challenge was we all traded and swapped Navy fabric. We then were given the friendship Star and Jacob Ladder Block, we had to use each of the blocks and some of the Navy. You could add any other color and other blocks if you wanted. This is what I came up with.<br />

This is a quilt from 2010/11. It started as a row x row. I was wanting a chain type quilt and was going to join this row x row so decided it would be nice to combine the two. I got on my EQ and designed this one up. After this came back home I added a row to the bottom then another to the side so it would be bigger. I call this What To Call It. Usually when I quilt one up a name will come to me if it has spoken to me yet, but nothing ever came to me for a name. Some day I will get this pattern out on here. Finding time is hard. Between working full time and part tine, husband and house I stay busy and of course have to be lazy some.<br />

This is Scrappy Blooms, of course this is From Four to Nine Block or disappearing 4-patch block. Maybe it has a few other names I know the original block name is something else but since we now make it this magical way I don't even know that name either. I did club demos on this so this was one of the samples I had. I was out of the background fabric and still wanted it bigger so I added the applique border. Even tho the background is different I am hoping that you don't really see that but look at the stunning applique work. LOL This my first attempt of adding applique without a pattern to let me know where to put it. And boy did I learn. I could go on for days on the mistakes I made figuring this out but instead I'll just say don't get to close, but I think I covered up the learning curves.<br />

This is Veggie Whirls a 4-Patch Stack n Whack. I have to say that this is probably the easiest way to learn the method of Stack n Whack. The 4-patch is so much easier than the Hexie kaleidoscope. Not knowing much about the method I just pulled out some old fabric from the 70's. It was some cool looking fabric and I couldn't resist. I Love the way it turned out and have other stack n whack fabrics in mind.Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11764074440533866486noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1832910743592116355.post-8413165377349656602013-12-04T21:46:00.002-05:002013-12-04T21:46:42.171-05:00Life's a HappeningSo it has been months since I have been on here. I stay really busy with day to day workings. Nine hours a day on the day job makes me tired. Then I try to get some quilting done. Posting on here has taken a back back seat for a couple, one is we lost our Internet service. We have our land line phone thru the Internet too and the modem for this went kaapluwie. It was so nice not hearing any ringing, not having any tele charity calls. Since we don't give out the cell phone numbers (I don't know why, I have unlimited everything) it was quiet. It probably took us near a week just to figure out we different have service then we had a bad storm come thru and knocked out cell service. Right before Internet went out I find out that all my USB ports are bad. Why I don't know. But I can't plug anything in and be recognized, I guess maybe that is why it took so long to figure it out that I had no service,just wasn't interested in being on knowing that computer was getting ready to take a dump, and this laptop! I have this laptop and it has a mind of it's own. The cursor is crazy. I can be typing away and then the next thing I know my typing will just start somewhere else in the middle of a sentence way off from where I was. Very frustrating! So it has forced me to use the laptop so I can download pics.<br />
For weeks now Hubby and I have been traveling back n forth to hospital to see his dad. It's been one thing after another and I can see the wear on the hubby. Then thoughts are how much can an 88 yr old take. So emotional draining.<br />
But lets face it you don't come here to read about my crazy problems you really want to see some eye candy.<br />

This is Karen O.'s. While doing this I called it "Taking Flight" Of course I have no clue as to the real name but that is just what I called it. Such a pretty quilt and it was made for her Grand daughter. Lucky little girl!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is a close up of Marilyn's quilt. This little baby quilt was hand embroidered 37 yrs ago. It was made for Marilyn's daughter by Marilyn's mother. But was never finished. Marilyn came to me and said she like to get this quilted like her mother wanted it done. Uh OH she was going to hand quilt it. She also stated that she had it marked out to hand quilt and she had individual blocks marked out. OK I can do that, if it's marked out I can do it. So sure!!!NOT she had washed the marking out, so I was on my own. Now I had to try to figure out what a woman would have done by hand 37 yrs ago and the what her daughter thought she would have done. <br />

So here it is. I stressed over this little thing for weeks. I was so worried I wouldn't do what it deserved. I knew I had to please the owner or she would have felt I ruined her Moms quilt and that would irreplaceable. This top a one of a kind had to be done just right. Oh How I worried. But when she picked it up she gave me a hug. I think she liked and I did ok. Whewwwwwwww<br />

This is a close up of a baby blanket by Rejena. She made two of these for twin baby girls. The panto used on this one is her favorite called "Bottoms Up"a Nicole Webb design.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And here is the full quilt. Isn't it so cute. And two of them. Such pretty quilts. Great job!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ8ia266RnMnaQHaZm7P0o1vj5b8KdXKPOpYNfkiimx1Ef6y6Ql30TMvq2PBrC4Fy4ctG7ddG7mMBGLzJj4p8GoHthlNl6W728z4zA1ol96oO-478XTCfQtrDssdiLM1u_lFrr_MgTpsI/s1600/Rejena+fairy+frost+sampler.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ8ia266RnMnaQHaZm7P0o1vj5b8KdXKPOpYNfkiimx1Ef6y6Ql30TMvq2PBrC4Fy4ctG7ddG7mMBGLzJj4p8GoHthlNl6W728z4zA1ol96oO-478XTCfQtrDssdiLM1u_lFrr_MgTpsI/s320/Rejena+fairy+frost+sampler.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
And here is another by Rejena. This is all out of Fairy Frost but the white background. This is the first quilt she started but hated it so it has taken her years to get back to it. Hey anyone else know this feeling. I still haven't finished the first one I started. When she gave this one to me to do she said 'make me love it.' Make me love it well that is no pressure. So each block has it's own individual quilting. I loved it when it was done and I think she did too, she still talks to me so she didn't hate it. lol<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd8swn-L3T_wrWV1iMahTQF9U-jOaYCHKFU6XPe5uHtlz0XQo3cxr6BSWgQNsESYu-qYVtYi2Xrp13awLeezHRxFCAdN64a1sZ7kXKbnDnFjsvIPNVNdUFqnAhzPuemXf_3bGRFc4Tarw/s1600/Rejena+ties+closeup.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd8swn-L3T_wrWV1iMahTQF9U-jOaYCHKFU6XPe5uHtlz0XQo3cxr6BSWgQNsESYu-qYVtYi2Xrp13awLeezHRxFCAdN64a1sZ7kXKbnDnFjsvIPNVNdUFqnAhzPuemXf_3bGRFc4Tarw/s320/Rejena+ties+closeup.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
This is a close up of another of Rejena's quilts. She made this one for a friend out of his ties. He was a coach and most all of his ties had a sports theme to them. I used a panto from Meadowlyon. The panto has football soccer baseball basketball and volleyball represented.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And here is the front of the quilt. Strings that's a lot of cutting of ties. OH MY. It turned out to be a beautiful quilt. I know how much time she put in on this and it was worth every minute she did.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
It would be nice if I would post some pics of the ones of mine I finished, guess I need to get some pics of them. I have completed a couple of them. But it's time to get off here for now.Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11764074440533866486noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1832910743592116355.post-55960730523757547932013-09-22T13:17:00.000-04:002013-09-22T13:19:19.886-04:00Getting Something Done<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Got a few things to catch up so lets go back <i>WAY back to July</i>. My local quilt club has it's annual quilt show, so I tried really hard to get a few of my things done. I had 6 quilts finished, that's the whole total for last year so yay , and then finishing one in August for the new grand baby I am way ahead. I have not started anything new this year other than the comfort quilts for co workers. It has been hard not starting something I am a starter, as you can see with all my UFO's on the side bar. Just as I say I have not started anything I am telling you a lie. Way back in early July we had a family reunion and the sisters wanted to do a Jelly Roll Race. I have to admit I didn't want to do this for I think they are boring quilts to look at. But when a big sis wants something you do it RIGHT. So I got my done first and tucked it away helping the others as needed. A high school classmate posted a couple of her jelly roll tops and I loved them and had to think long and hard on this. WHY?? I decided maybe if mine just had some borders it would be better. So I bought borders yesterday for it. BUT that is the only thing I have started this year without it being a comfort quilt to be finished and given away. Proud me but bored me. So with the completion of my quilts I had a nice showing in the quilt show, nothing to win with but DONE quilts just the same. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A friend Jeannie asked me to quilt her quilt well of course I'll do it and just so happens I have seen just the design too. Cardinals panto form my favorite panto maker <a href="http://www.meadowlyon.com/" target="_blank">Judy of Meadowlyon</a>. Her quilt was a row by row that she wanted to do but didn't. She was so afraid that she wouldn't measure up or she would get something really crappie. Yes that is a chance but so far I have gotten good to really nice and wonderful back. So far I have not been un happy with anything I have gotten back. So she picked out a pattern block that I had done on an earlier quilt the <a href="http://www.quilterscache.com/S/SplitNinePatchBlock.html" target="_blank">Split Nine Patch</a>. But she decided not to make the small 6" blocks not the normal 12" like I did called <a href="http://sneedlemagic.blogspot.com/2011/09/back-to-grind.html" target="_blank">Scrappy Diamond Plates</a>. Hers was stunning she asked each rower to fussy cut something for the center most did a cardinal like her but going to a retreat with her she stated someone used other Christmas type things. So with a bunch of fabric on the dump table and knowing there was Christmas fabric on there and knowing I was on her row list, I asked her if there was anything there that would work. She picked out a cute fabric that had some dear and rabbits and quail all in Christmas attire. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU3n36NvlrhRrEcyOCwqvrDeXcHi95NvPLLMzhaKzdEca-SoTvIDVavPV35FdGWYfeT80MDLuUugBl2niH6n5R54a5HJ40HGHg0-UBnTA4Bf1czdLdS9l1VMgVhKFJf6bxxUaebzK9Nk8/s1600/Jennie+B.+Cardinals+close+up.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU3n36NvlrhRrEcyOCwqvrDeXcHi95NvPLLMzhaKzdEca-SoTvIDVavPV35FdGWYfeT80MDLuUugBl2niH6n5R54a5HJ40HGHg0-UBnTA4Bf1czdLdS9l1VMgVhKFJf6bxxUaebzK9Nk8/s320/Jennie+B.+Cardinals+close+up.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
So here is a couple pictures of her quilt and the quilting. She supplied the light background fabric. In these pictures it looks white but is really a beige color and I believe it is fairy frost. Yes it has a bit of shimmery shine. The red border fabric has metallic gold. So most people tried to fins another red with metallic gold in it. She asked that no one sew their rows together, that way she could arrange them the way she thought looked best. Her bestie friend was in rower group and she replaced the center block with a paper pieced cardinal. So in putting this top together the cardinal was set in the center thus crating this stunning quilt. The cardinal panto worked beautifully on this quilt. The outside green print border is of cardinal quilting also. So with all this said she struggled with whether or not to enter it into the quilt show. The show is just a viewers choice no judging but she still struggled with whether it was good enough or not. But she entered it and it showed spectacular, so spectacular, it won best in machine quilting and BEST of SHOW. Whoot whoot to know that I helped with it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5l14a9Gh6MdavtuNT29EJQleK3f8XfAXVdVeLyJG0ylyyq0iNI59fs3RwdK0ezOJC03Za9pSBPiUjd1GSFcV8-eeqx7Vq507M0sleSxzFJwqHMmAyBNKlJfsY2KAMzm431UOjMecKl6Q/s1600/Jennie+B.+Cardinals.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5l14a9Gh6MdavtuNT29EJQleK3f8XfAXVdVeLyJG0ylyyq0iNI59fs3RwdK0ezOJC03Za9pSBPiUjd1GSFcV8-eeqx7Vq507M0sleSxzFJwqHMmAyBNKlJfsY2KAMzm431UOjMecKl6Q/s320/Jennie+B.+Cardinals.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Here it is before the binding. Not the best pic but there it is. I did the top row. That center cardinal really sets it off. But to get to the best part, Jeannie calls me one day and asks if I can meet her up at the quilt shop. She then tells me and shows me she won as part of her Best Machine Quilt award a $25.00 gift certificate from this shop and she wanted me to have half. Wow most of the the time the quilter doesn't even know how the quilt does but for the owner to want to share the prize with the quilter was a first for me. I argued but knowing Jeannie I have argued with other things and they became a contest in one upping till someone gives up. So I knew that arguing was a moot point. It so happened that it was a Tuesday and the quilt shop has Fat Quarter Tuesday, 3 F4's for $5.00 . I picked out 6 F4's and told her no more or we would be back to playing our one up game. then I sent her a thank you card. Love that Lady she is special. She claims she still owes me but I told her NO and to quit thinking about it.<br />

We went on a retreat a couple of years ago that Bonnie Hunter was the guest. She did two classes there and this was one of them. No I have not finished wither of mine yet. Yes I will someday and seeing Kathys' makes me think I need to get mine out. This one I quilted with paisleys. Kathy loves paisleys so I had to put them on the quilt.<br />

Local club did a charm swap (no I did not participate). Their goal was to have them done for our quilt show in August. (I belong to two clubs so two quilt shows) They could do any patch they wanted. Anita chose the thimble or sometimes called tumbler. I love how she color coordinated the angled rows. Such a charming quilt. Ha ha me made a funny.<br />

Oh no<p dir=ltr>Well I found my way to the big city of Boston. So many reasons to come here but the main one was to meet  family members we have never an. Like or new grandson, Parker. Little Parker  is now three weeks old. Photo is of the little guy  on his quilt. I made for him. The blocks were made for the oldest grand child who is now14. Well obviously it never got done.lol.  When we got the news of Parker coming I dug the blocks out and put it together.  Doesn't he look little?<br>
Well we had a bit of down  time so I had to look up a quilt shop. And I found it! OMG here is little ole me,driving from one place in Waltham to Cambridge. So I want to say Monique and Manya were so great. Friendly friendly friendly.  Fabric selection was great. I didn't check out books patterns rulers and such. Just stroked fabric   I could have spent the day there but had the Hubster with me. I'm surprised he did so well. To all those that live in this area you are lucky to have such a great shop. <br>
My loot 9 fat quarters. Got a plan but you will have to wait to see it.<br>

Parker! And this is his quilt. The Hubster and I are going out to meet him later this week, so I have to get this done and packed by WED night. I have had these blocks for 7 or more years and this was just a great time to use them. Parker lives in the Boston area and oh so far away. This quilt is meant to be used. I hope it is liked.</p>

Hadn't been to a large show in quite awhile, sometime ago I found out large busy shows weren't my thing. Love the show and vendor specials are great but with claustrophobia crowds can be a problem. I tried it again this time knowing my problem I stayed away from the crowded areas. I made it with no problems. So with that I want to say NONE OF THESE ARE MINE AND I MAKE NO CLAIM TO THESE. I JUST WANT TO SHARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITES. </p>
